Dear Visitors and Members of the Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems (ICROS),
My name is Jae Weon Choi, and I am honored to lead the Institute of Control, Robotics and Systems for the year 2023. First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family health, happiness, peace, and prosperity.
This year marks the 29th anniversary of our institute, which was founded in September 1994. Thanks to your unwavering dedication and support, ICROS has grown into a significant academic and industrial center, fostering interdisciplinary studies and convergence in the fields of control, robotics, and systems. With around 8,200 members, we continue to make remarkable progress. Additionally, to assist your academic activities, the institute has actively pursued close collaborations with a wide range of societies throughout the world, including our participation in the International Federation of Automatic Control as a national member to represent Korean academia.
To enrich the pool of knowledge, our institute publishes a quarterly ICROS newsletter, the monthly Journal of ICROS, which is indexed in the National Research Foundation of Korea and Scopus, and the monthly SCIE-indexed (IF 3.2, Q2) IJCAS. I can assure you that we are committed to maintaining the highest academic standards, striving to match top international journals and articles. In particular, we are keen on prioritizing the publication of differentiated online English journals to align with the trends of the times.
Inheriting the legacy of all our members who have been willing to go to any lengths to make the institute what it is today, I am devoted to fulfilling our assigned mission of promoting academic diversity in convergence studies. Moreover, I will spare no effort to make our institute a forum where all of you, as well as up-and-coming scholars, are encouraged to share insights and expertise in a constructive and supportive environment. Strengthening our ties with the industry is another focal point to bolster our presence in relevant sectors.
Regarding the institute's annual academic events, the 38th domestic ICROS academic conference was held on June 21-23 in Samcheok, Gangwon-do. Additionally, the 23rd International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems (ICCAS 2023) is scheduled for October 17-20 in Yeosu, Korea. The domestic academic conference aims to foster collaborations among academia, research centers, and industries. Meanwhile, we'll invite distinguished scholars from home and abroad to share their ideas and insights at the ICCAS. I hope that these two academic events will enhance your academic pursuits and facilitate international academic exchanges, making 2023 an exceptionally fruitful year. In this respect, your active participation will be highly appreciated.
With your continued support and encouragement, I am eager to make the ICROS a future-ready institute. Once again, I wish you all the best. Thank you.
Jae Weon Choi, Ph.D.
President of ICROS
